QHY5-II Series / Lodestar Adapter for Celestron (1mm) Straight Through Finders.

Connects QHY5-II series & Lodestar cameras to the Celestron 9 x 50 straight through finder with coarse threads.

Most Celestron finders are the same as Sky-Watcher, and have 11 fine threads cut into the rear of the finder tube but this adapter fits those that have 8 x 1mm threads. Simply remove the finder eyepiece and holder to check.

This adapter uses a push fit system which many prefer for ease of use. We also supply a C/CS mount adapter for Celestron (1mm) finders which uses a screw thread for connection.

The SPC900 and SPC880 Adapter for Straight Through Finders connects SPC900, SPC880 and Toucam Pro I & II cameras to SkyWatcher & Clones 9 x 50 straight through finders.

Most Celestron finders are the same as Sky-Watcher, and have 11 fine threads cut into the rear of the finder tube.

However some are different – Simply remove the eyepiece and holder to check.

Please contact us prior to purchase if you are unsure

Tests of the SPC900 and SPC880 Adapter for Straight Through Finders have confirmed that guiding is successful at focal lengths of up to 1500mm and more.

Stability is excellent if screws are tightened firmly and cables tied up.

Using the finder as a guidescope reduces the weight and complexity of your imaging setup and the wide field of view guarantees finding suitable guide stars.

Adapters are near parfocal with visual focus of the finder.

The SkyWatcher 9×50 Finder to C Adapter connects C and CS mount cameras like the QHY guide and ZWO mini cameras to SkyWatcher, Orion and most Celestron 8 x 50 and 9 x 50 straight through finders.

Most Celestron finders are the same as SkyWatcher, and have 11 fine threads cut into the rear of the finder tube. However some are different and we now have a separate adapter for those Celestron finders with 8 coarser (1mm) rear finder threads. Simply remove the eyepiece and holder to check.

[SPC900 / SPC800 to Sky-Watcher and GSO to C & GSO to T adapters are also available ]

Please contact us prior to purchase if you are unsure

Tests have confirmed that guiding with the SkyWatcher 9×50 Finder to C Adapter is successful at focal lengths of 1500mm and more and is seeing dependent.

Stability is excellent if screws are tightened firmly and cables tied up.

Using a 9×50 finder as a guide-scope reduces the weight and complexity of your imaging setup and the wide field of view practically guarantees finding suitable guide stars.

Guiding software prefers a less than perfect star image, so the centre of the star mass can be better calculated. Most 9×50 finders are optimal for this “as-is” whereas small refractors can be, if anything, too sharp.

Please read this article “Thoughts on Auto-Guiding” for a more in depth analysis of the subject, which is borne out by my tests.
