Atik 16ic - £369
This is Atik's entry level camera, which makes a great guider if you upgrade later. Image quality is so good, that in most cases dark frames are unnecessary. It's the perfect introduction to CCD imaging. My package includes: Camera with embedded T thread, 1.25" nosepiece, CD-ROM with drivers, capture software, User's manual (pdf) and plug ins for Astroart and MaxIm DL.There's also a quick start guide, 3m USB cable and 1.8m cigar plug lead. A 2A mains power supply and a 2m ST-4 autoguiding cable are available if required.
What you can achieve
Test image of M27, made with the prototype camera. 3x240s with IR block filter.
The central region of the Rosette, showing part of the cluster NGC 2239.
Atik Titan **NEW** Pre Order Now!
Titan is an exciting new dual purpose cooled CCD camera from Atik. Featuring a cooled Sony ICX424, 659x494 sensor that can operate at 15 frames per second in high speed mode. The high frame rate gives the imager the opportunity to capture fleeting moments of high quality seeing. This combined with 16 bit digitisation and very low noise will provide excellent lunar and planetary imaging. Conversely the -20° cooling and high sensitivity of the Sony 424 sensor, coupled with very low (5e) read noise, makes this camera a very capable deep sky tool capable of long deep exposures. In addition the Titan also makes an ultra fast autoguider.
Included is the full featured Dawn software for image processing and camera control/image aquisition.
Pricing to be confirmed, but will be competitive!
Atik 16ic-s - from £582
After a lot of feedback, Atik introduced a bigger image sensor in the 16ic body. Customers felt the 16ic was great, but a few more pixels wouldn't hurt, especially if they were a little bigger!
The 16ic-s features the Sony ICX415AL progressive scan image sensor, with a resolution of 782x582 pixels and a pixel size of 8.3 x 8.3µm. Although not as sensitive in the Ha region as the old Atik 16, the 16ic-s has lower noise and fewer hot pixels. With similar specification to the 16ic, this camera is another step in providing the astro imaging market with cameras capable of pleasing both the beginner, and the advanced astrophotographer.
2A mains power supply and a 2m ST-4 autoguiding cable are available if required.
Atik 314E - from £769
The new 314E camera from Atik is is a landmark in both price and performance. It's especially useful with small refractors and bigger telescopes with focal reducers. Since it is a ½" class CCD, it fits really well within the corrected circle of even 3.3 reducers, making it a good choice for SCT's. It's an excellent choice when using Starizona's Hyperstar system. Featuring the same small low profile case as the 314E this camera has incredibly low read noise and will provide images with a very high sampling rathe even with short focal length instruments.
Atik 314L+ (with setpoint cooling) - from £1095
The Atik 314L+ is based on the excellent Sony 285 CCD, but sets a new standard in performance and specification.
USB 2.0 allows high speed downloads, with 1M pixels/second readout speed and a 2M pixel/s preview mode. Extremely low noise electronics - Readout noise is the lowest possible 4e
Low power requirements - 12V at 0.8A. Extra life from your batteries means longer imaging sessions in the field. Highly efficient cooling -25° C cooling difference from ambient temperature, reduces noise in your images dramatically, making dark frames unnecessary.
Atik 320e **NEW**
The new Atik 320E is a 2 million pixel camera that offers you the opportunity to take stunning wide field images of the sky at high resolution. Like the Atik 314E, its relatively small pixels make it ideally suited to popular short focal length refractors. The sheer number of pixels allows very high resolution images to be taken, which will look great on the web or printed at A4 and greater sizes. Like the Atik 314E and Atik 314L+ it's based on the highly regarded Atik 3 series platform, which gives the lowest read noise of any camera currently available to amateur astronomers. The platform features USB 2.0 for fast readout, high efficiency cooling and low weight.
Features
- 2 Million 4.4µm square pixels for high resolution imaging
- Ultra low read noise for great sensitivity
- Lightweight in order not to cause flexure of the telescope focuser tube
- High efficient cooling to 25 degrees below ambient
- Great software for image acquisition and pre processing
Atik 383L+ **HOT** £1514 - Order Now!
The new Atik 383L+ is an 8 Megapixel pixel camera using the Kodak KAF 8300 CCD. Over the last few months a huge amount has been written about this CCD justifying its place in astronomer’s hearts. We can sum it up succinctly by saying it’s a fabulous CCD with a huge number of good sized pixels that is currently available at an irresistible price. This sensor should redefine mid range astro-imaging making multi-megapixel, cooled, cameras much more accessible. So what of Atik’s implementation? In the past Atik has prided itself on providing cameras with the very highest image quality but at reasonable cost: we see no reason to change. We have built on the success of our very highly regarded Atik 314 platform to support Kodak’s KAF 8300. This immediately offers a huge number of advantages including the very low read noise circuits and the reliability from using this established design.
- 8.3 Million, 5.4µm square pixels for high resolution imaging
- Ultra low read noise for great sensitivity
- Lightweight - no flexure of the telescope focuser tube
- Highly efficient set point cooling to 40° max below ambient
- Great software for image acquisition and pre-processing
Atik 4000
The Atik 4000 features a 4 million pixel Kodak sensor with a 15mmx15mm array. This represents an ideal introduction to the joys of large format imaging. The sensor is much bigger than the typical Sony sensors used for astronomy. Normal 1.25" filters are used to their fullest with this camera and offer a considerable saving compared to cameras requiring 2" filters. The image obtained from this camera can easily be printed out on to A4 or A3 paper. And when view on a computer monitor its possible to keep zooming in to see more detail. Both mono and one shot colour versions of the Atik 4000 are available.
Atik 11000
This is the top of the range camera available from Atik and is the result of extensive design and development. It offers a huge 35mm format sensor. This is the camera for the uncompromising user looking to create stunning high resolution images. The Atik 11000 uses the Kodak KAI 11002 CCD and comes in mono or one shot colour versions. Its difficult to get an impression of just how big this chip is, seeing really is believing! The resulting images can be amazingly detailed, and can be printed out at A3 size or beyond or simply enjoyed at the computer.
